All of Marks & Spencer’s children’s clothes will now come with a one-year guarantee, which guarantees a complete return within 365 days if the item does not live up to the retailer’s high standards.
The program, which excludes footwear and accessories, is a component of the retailer’s “Another Life” sustainability strategy. It emphasises the importance of “made well, made to last” in order to guarantee that the apparel is of hand-me-down quality.
Additionally, it makes use of M&S’s “market-leading” position in children’s clothing, a market it has selected for future expansion.
M&S continues to use design elements that adapt to children’s growing bodies throughout the collection, such as “growth proof hems” and adjustable waistbands, as well as coats that can accommodate three children’s names on the label.
The one-year warranty will cover all children’s clothing, including school uniforms, joggers, and T-shirts, as well as baby apparel.
The program expands upon M&S’s 100-day extended returns policy for back-to-school that has been in place since the previous year. It also comes after M&S slashed prices on its ‘daily basics’ kidswear line by as much as 20% at the beginning of the year.
Alexandra Dimitriu, Kidswear Director at M&S, emphasised the longstanding trust customers place in the brand’s children’s clothing, highlighting the “hand-me-down” quality that has become a hallmark of M&S. She noted that whether it’s a jogger, a dress, or school uniform, parents rely on the exceptional quality and dependable value of each item.
Building on this reputation, Dimitriu said M&S is taking an additional step to assure customers that every piece of kidswear is designed to be durable and long-lasting. The aim, she added, is to ensure these garments can be passed on or repurposed—given “Another Life”—once children outgrow them. Drawing from her own experience as a mother, she underscored how important this assurance is for families.
