Italian luxury fashion brand Missoni is the latest to announce its mission to change formats and go co-ed this season. The brand’s first co-ed runway presentation of both women and men’s Spring/Summer collections will commemorate Angela Missoni’s 20th anniversary of holding the ropes of creative direction of the fashion house that was started by her parents Rosita Jelmini and Ottavio Missoni in 1953.

The show will be held on 23 September, followed by a lavish party in the evening in Missoni’s honour to celebrate history and heritage of the family-run label. Missoni’s new move is only following the overall industrial mood of shaking up the conventional fashion calendar. While Gucci, Jil Sander, Etro and Bottega Veneta have already announced their intent of showing the men’s and women’s spring 2018 assortments together in September; Dsquared2, Damir Doma and Diesel Black Gold have decided to show in June, at the Milan Men’s Fashion Week.
Foreshown as an exception, the fashion show is estimated to serve as a testing ground for Missoni, as for several other labels, of the breaking up of collection presentation formats in future. Perhaps the calendar overhaul, which began last year, will soon go from a feature to format!
