Matalan has added 10 new third-party brands to its website, with plans to expand this offer further next year.
The new brands—Quiz, Pink Vanilla, Blue Vanilla, Roman, Yumi, Mela London, Where’s that From, Izabel, Brand Threads, and Toe Zone—are only available online.
With this move, Matalan can now provide “an even greater choice of stylish and affordable clothing and footwear” as it expands its already impressive portfolio of third-party brands.
Along with meeting a wider range of client needs, it also enables the affordable fashion retailer to offer a greater selection of styles and sizes, including plus size choices.
In response to consumer demand and appetite, Matalan claimed to have been “agile” since releasing third-party brands in September 2022.
Celebrity collaborations like Vogue Williams for Little Mistress and Jac Jossa, Gemma Atkinson, and Stacey Solomon for In The Style are among the highlights; several styles sold out in less than a day after their debut.
Ben Smith, Chief Trading Officer at Matalan, said, “We’re committed to offering our customers a dynamic online experience.”
The announcement follows a surge in revenue for Matalan, which increased from £ 286.4 million in 2022 to £ 288.6 million for the 13 weeks ending 26th August 2023.
The retailer’s online channel was declared to be “actively targeted for improvement” following a 34.7 per cent decline in revenue, despite an 8 per cent increase in income at UK stores.
