The Indian city of Bengaluru has become the first location in south India to host a brick and mortar store of the Spanish fashion brand MANGO at Pheonix Market City. Overall, it’s the ninth physical store of the brand in the country.
The arrival of MANGO in Bengaluru was announced by Shifali Singh Vice President, International Business & Mango-Esprit India Head at Myntra Jabong India Pvt. Ltd. on Linkedin.
The brand sells its fashion products on Myntra’s online platform. The collaboration helped MANGO garner growth and consequently form a tie-up with the Indian e-retailer to open physical stores.
Myntra and MANGO have been in association since 2014. Markedly, e-retailer Myntra inked a deal with MANGO last year that gave distribution and management rights for the label to former in the Indian market. The brand had opened its first brick and mortar store under the partnership with Myntra in New Delhi’s Select Citywalk Mall on October 4, 2017.
The fashion brand is planning to have 25 stores in India over the next five years. MANGO had to shutter its stores in India after its retail partnership with DLF Brands ended.
In view of the contribution from Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities which account for 45 per cent of the brand’s sales, the retailer is eyeing at smaller cities for its retail expansion.
Founded in 1984, MANGO has become one of the leading fashion groups in the world. Based in its city of origin, Barcelona, the fashion brand has an extensive store network of 800,000 square metres in 110 countries world over.
