In the 13 weeks leading up to 29th December 2024, group sales increased 5 per cent year over year, and Mamas & Papas announced record sales throughout the Black Friday and Christmas retail period.
Strong results in both the UK and foreign markets contributed to the nursery retailer’s 8 per cent growth in group earnings during the same time period. Overall, retail growth was 8 per cent, supported by a 13 per cent spike during Black Friday as a result of high demand for baby apparel, travel systems, nursery furnishings, and toys.
The business attributes a large portion of its expansion to its growing toys and gifts department, especially the Welcome to the World collection, which consists of clothing, accessories, and matching toys.
According to the most recent GfK data, the high street nursery retailer’s market share in the UK reached a record 20 per cent in November. Mamas & Papas said that it maintained higher pricing, which helped to boost its profit growth, despite the retail industry’s pervasive discounting.
Additionally, the company has been expanding internationally at a faster rate; during the quarter, revenues outside increased by 80 per cent.
With partners including Central Department Store Group in Thailand, MAP Active in Indonesia, and El Corte Inglés in Spain, the brand has opened 29 overseas concessions in the last 18 months. In 2025, the retailer intends to open 20 more stores in Australia, South East Asia, and Spain, including a new collaboration with Myer, a well-known department store in Australia.
