Following the giant footsteps of its sister brand J.Crew; Madewell has launched a new standard of sizing. An upsurge in size inclusivity collections is being mapped globally, making Madewell the latest player joining its counterparts in embracing the versatility of wide range of sizes and the designs that will be catered to women of diverse shapes and sizes.
Last spring, Madewell had unveiled denim products in extended sizes 33 and 35 and a new denim fit called ‘Curvy Jeans’, a pleasing counterpart to the ‘Skinny Jeans’. The brand has also included its statement ‘holds-you-in’ Magic Pockets in their denims. The feature makes the waist a bit higher, contours the waistband, and adds extra room for the thighs and lower hips.
For its fall 2018 collection, the brand has further extended its size offering up to size 37. Additionally, the tops, dresses, jackets, knits, and sweaters offered are available in sizes varying from XXS to 3X. These sizes would constitute at least a 40 per cent of the entire collection.
Madewell has planned to display a majority of extended sizes in its ‘in-store’ collection by next year. For the same, a process of continued fine-tuning is ongoing, based on consumer’s valuable feedback. Price of the extended sizes articles of the collection is the same as straight sizes. The range is now available for purchase on madewell.com.
The most successful denims will be available for purchase in exclusive Madewell stores across the country through its Dot-Com Try-On program. The program extends service where the customers can try on styles and sizes and then place the order with a store associate. Additionally, the brand offers no pay shipping for in-store and online clients, the ones who have linked with their free loyalty program.
Recently, J. Crew had collaborated with Universal Standard and dropped a capsule collection, catering to sizes 6 to 32. The extended sizes will be featured in various collections accessible through the fall.
