Kris Van Assche has stepped down from his Men’s Artistic Director post at Dior Homme. The French heritage house has now revealed that Kim Jones, the former men’s Creative Chief at Louis Vuitton, is officially succeeding Van Assche.
Jones will join Dior Homme on April 1, 2018, and present his premier collection in the capacity in June.
Jones’ predecessor Van Assche had led the men’s division of Dior for 11 years and it is understood that he will be given a bigger role within the LVMH Group itself.
Pietro Beccari, the newly appointed CEO of Christian Dior Couture said, “I admire his (Jones) creative vision, which combines both his own inspirations of contemporary culture and his own reinterpretation of specific codes and heritage of a house. I am confident in his ability to recreate his universe within the maison Dior and imagine for Dior Homme an elegant and resolutely modern wardrobe.”
For the new CEO, who has previously worked with Jones during his time at Louis Vuitton, the creative shuffle is his first important decision in this position.
Jones has a respectable streetwear fan following and almost 350 thousand followers on Instagram, thanks to his work with the cult streetwear brand Supreme. This expertise is something Dior Homme could really use as the entire portfolio of the company struggles to find a place in the modern hyper-digital fashion landscape.
Markedly, Jones’ resume boasts of shining stints at major labels like Dunhill, Alexander McQueen, Hugo Boss and Mulberry. He is also known as one of the only top-level designers who has garnered equal prowess in both luxury and streetwear segments.
