Liberty, a footwear brand, plans to open 100 new stores this financial year, including exclusive outlets for its comfort footwear brand, Healers.
According to Anupam Bansal, Executive Director, Liberty, the company has reduced its portfolio from 10 sub-brands to six, with each targeting a specific consumer segment.
Healers contribute nearly 40% of the business, while athleisure brand Leap 7X accounts for around 20%. Over the next three to four years, Liberty aims to gradually establish these brands as independent consumer brands.
To support this strategy, Liberty has started developing exclusive Healers stores across airports, malls and pop-up locations. The first company-owned outlets are expected to open over the next six months.
Currently, Liberty operates around 500 stores, including 200 company-owned and 300 franchise outlets. This fiscal, it plans to add 100 more stores, backed by an investment of Rs 75 crore (US $7.87 million) towards retail expansion, store modernisation, brand building and marketing.
In addition, online sales currently contribute around 10% of revenue, while exports account for less than 5%, both of which Liberty expects to grow in the coming years.
