Levi Strauss & Co., has announced its partnership with Lalaland.ai, a retail technology company, to test customisable AI-generated models.
The technology will allow products to be displayed on a wider range of body types, skin tones, ages and sizes, creating a more diverse and inclusive customer experience.
While acknowledging that AI will likely never replace human models completely, Amy Gershkoff Bolles, Global Head of Digital and Emerging Technology Strategy at Levi Strauss & Co., said,
“While AI will likely never fully replace human models for us, we are excited for the potential capabilities this may afford us for the consumer experience and we see fashion and technology as both an art and a science, and we’re thrilled to be partnering with Lalaland.ai, a company with such high-quality technology that can help us continue on our journey for a more diverse and inclusive customer experience.”
In an online post, Levi’s expressed interest in using AI technology to complement its models. With this technology, Levi’s hopes to offer customers a more customised and inclusive shopping experience by presenting their products on models that look like them. This move towards diversity and inclusion in the fashion industry is a step in the right direction to create a more equitable and representative society.
