The successor to outgoing chairman Sharon White has finally been named at John Lewis Partnership (JLP), where former chief executive officer for Tesco, Jason Tarry, is to take on the helm position of the board.
As White approached the end of her five-year term, which would have ended in February 2025, she made known that she intended to leave the retail group’s board in the latter half of 2023. This will end more abruptly, though, since Tarry is expected to take over in September; White will then step down and assist with the transfer.
In her stead, Tarry brings to the role over 33 years of experience at supermarket giant Tesco, where he had held a variety of positions covering general, operational, and commercial management. JLP praised Tarry as “supportive” of its ongoing turnaround approach.
Additionally, the CEO was recognised for spearheading the spread of Tesco’s F&F Clothing line throughout Europe—a crucial attribute for John Lewis as the company continues to focus on its retail network.
