JCPenney, the US fashion brand, has announced to close down 6 more stores by April 2020.
This follows brand’s closure of 37 stores in 2019 and yet again proves the retail scenario is not good anywhere.
JCPenney, in particular, also had a dismal 2019 holiday season, with same-store sales slumping by 7.5 per cent during the period.
While announcing the same, the brand said that the shutting down of stores is a step towards returning to the days of profitable sales.
The brand released the names of 6 stores to be closed by April 2020. They are as follows: North Hills Shopping Center in Raleigh, NC; Tulsa Promenade in Tulsa, OK; Chapel Hill Mall in Akron, OH; Southgate Mall in Missoula, MY; Myrtle Beach Mall in Myrtle Beach, SC and Green Acres Mall in Valley Stream, NY.
The brand, which is over a century old, operates more than 860 stores in 49 states of USA and Puerto Rico.
