
Garment brand Chennis, owned by Coimbatore (India)-based Sivaraj Spinning Mills, has unveiled its expansion plans.
Menswear, womenswear and kidswear are the major products offered by Chennis which is currently confined to south Indian states like Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and Telangana. The brand is also present in Punjab (North India).
According to company’s Executive Director, K Sivaraj, the company is now eyeing to spread its wings in other cities such as Mumbai, Pune and Ahmedabad by the end of this fiscal. Additionally, it will increase its store count in Chenani, Bengaluru and Hyderabad.
The brand is targeting Rs. 100-crore turnover from its domestic retail business by the year 2020. It is planning to set up 30 company-owned outlets by the end of the current fiscal.
Menswear will be the major focus area for the retailer. However, a range of outer wear, inner wear, ethnic wear and a bit of sportswear will also be introduced by Chennis.
Integration of technology in store to enhance shopping experience will also be considered by Chennis, which is currently retailed through 800 multi-brand outlets and plans to make it to 3,500 by the end of this year.
In addition to brick and mortar, Chennis will also start selling its products on popular e-commerce websites soon. Currently, the retail business contributes 10 per cent to its total revenue and the company is targeting to make it 32 per cent by 2020.
In order to increase its retail footprint, the Indian label has also initiated talks with three to four retailers which will help them expand presence in 700 stores.
