
Sweden-based apparel retailer H&M is set to unveil 16 new denim styles from recycled cotton collected through its in-store Garment Collecting Initiative, next month. Karl-Johan Persson, CEO of the company said that creating a closed loop for textiles, in which unwanted clothes can be recycled into new ones, will not only minimize textile waste, but also lessen the need for fresh resources as well as other impacts that fashion has on our planet.

At present, the brand blends in about 20 per cent of recycled fibres into its clothes, with an aim to achieve 100 per cent mark. H&M estimates that up to 95 per cent of the thousands of tonnes of textiles thrown away every year could be either re-worked or recycled.
