Swedish Fashion giant H&M announced that it will gradually reopen a significant portion of its stores in Ukraine from November 2023. The decision follows the temporary closure of these stores due to Russia’s invasion of the country on 24th February 2021. It had nine stores in Ukraine back then which were reportedly shut, giving in to the geopolitical tensions.
H&M states that it is actively ready to resume operations from November 2023, in most of its stores wherever possible, taking into consideration the safety of both its employees and customers by closely observing the security situation.
This confidence has been restored by the latest reports laying out hopes of a fully functional retail market in Ukraine. After over 500 days of war, when the country’s retail sector is coming back on track, some media reports signal that the Spanish fashion group Inditex, is also expected to reopen retail this fall.
