Swedish fashion retailer H&M has kicked off same-day delivery facility in Berlin on pilot basis. The facility is likely to become operational in other cities or even countries after reviewing its success in Berlin.
Those willing to avail the same-day delivery need to place orders before 10 am and make a payment of 5.99 Euros for the service. H&M would ensure that product that gets delivered between 7 and 10 PM on the same day. Next day delivery is available in many cities in Germany. The retailer currently charges 4.99 euros for standard delivery in three to five working days.
In addition to standard delivery, it also offers requested delivery at the cost of 6.99 euros from Monday to Saturday in a time window selected at the time of checkout. The move has been taken by the Swedish fashion retailer at a time when delivery related complaints surfaced against it in Europe.
Success of newly introduced same-day delivery would help fashion retailer to beat its competitors like Zalando in Germany and later on in Europe. The company is eyeing to take advantage of the opportunities offered by digitisation as H&M CEO Karl-Johan Persson sees 2018 as a transitional year to accelerate the transformation of the company.
