Heritage menswear brand Sri Ram & Son has appointed Sunil Goklani as its Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, signalling a strategic leadership shift as the company prepares to accelerate both domestic and international expansion.
Established more than 140 years ago, Sri Ram & Son has long been recognised as a prominent institution in India’s premium menswear segment. The appointment of Goklani is expected to strengthen the brand’s growth strategy as it seeks to extend its legacy of craftsmanship to a broader customer base in India and overseas markets.
Goklani brings over three decades of experience in the retail and fashion industry, having previously held senior roles with several established brands including YY Yonex, Lerros, Freelook, Blackberrys, Bestseller through its Indifusion business, and Biba through its Rangriti label.
The brand is promoted by the Mohan family, which has built a strong reputation within India’s retail sector through its association with several premium fashion businesses. In addition to Sri Ram & Son, the family’s portfolio includes brands such as Pall Mall, Blackberrys and Guardini.
The promoters of the company indicated that the appointment of Goklani was intended to align the brand’s historic identity with a modern global growth strategy. They stated that his experience in the retail sector and understanding of the fashion industry would help the company expand its reach while preserving the craftsmanship and heritage associated with Sri Ram & Son.
Under Goklani’s leadership, the company plans to focus on expanding the brand’s heritage-driven offering to a wider customer base, both within India and in international markets. The strategy will also seek to strengthen the brand’s global positioning within the premium menswear segment while leveraging the broader expertise of the group’s portfolio of fashion brands.
Goklani stated that leading a brand with such a long-standing legacy represented a significant responsibility. He noted that the Mohan family had played a major role in shaping India’s men’s fashion retail landscape through brands such as Sri Ram & Son, Pall Mall, Blackberrys and Guardini. He added that his objective would be to respect the brand’s 140-year heritage while implementing a comprehensive growth strategy aimed at establishing a stronger global presence in men’s fashion.
