
Gerry Weber, the well-known womenswear label from Germany, has witnessed its EBITDA surge by €28.8 million in the year that ended 31 December 2021–and thus returned to profit.
That’s a good growth from the loss of €39.7 million posted a year earlier!
The fashion brand saw its consolidated sales – during the period –fall by 5.5 per cent to €262.7 million, while the numbers were €278.1 million a year before.
The fall is, reportedly, due to temporary closures of bricks-and-mortar stores and declining footfall.
Besides, troubles pertaining to supply chains across the globe also hit the numbers significantly.
The e-commerce sales, however, shot up by 29.5 per cent to clock €42.1 million.
Q1, in particular, saw the Group improve its normalised EBITDA to €1.7 million – a good growth after reporting a loss of €3.5 million in the same period a year earlier.
Gerry Weber was founded in 1973. In January 2020, the insolvency proceedings against the brand were discontinued upon request of the company.
