Leading e-commerce company Flipkart’s fast commerce initiative will be group head of supply chain and senior vice president Hemant Badri.
According to a report, the corporation plans to start its fast commerce product in July. It is currently establishing a network of dark stores to carry out the same function.
Badri has worked at Flipkart for just over three years. Before that, he spent almost 11 years working for the large fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) company Unilever, where he held various positions, including vice president of worldwide planning. Badri worked for Colgate Palmolive, a large FMCG company, before joining Unilever.
The move by Walmart-owned Flipkart coincides with the expansion of stock keeping units (SKUs) in dark stores by Blinkit and Zepto, two rapid commerce companies, to include non-grocery categories like clothes, which have hitherto been the purview of ecommerce companies.
