Walmart-owned Flipkart’s Chief Financial Officer (CFO) Emily McNeal has quit the company and has decided to return to the US to pursue a career outside the Walmart Group, the company confirmed in a statement.
Emily had come on board as a part of Walmart’s acquisition of the e-commerce firm and held the position of Walmart’s M&A head before joining Flipkart.
According to sources in the company, Emily’s role will be divided between Sriram Venkataraman, who will be the next CFO of Flipkart as well as the fashion e-tailer Myntra, and Adarsh Nahata who is presently PhonePe’s CFO.
The two executives will be reporting to the CFO of Walmart International, Chris Nicholas.
“Venkataraman will have a dual reporting to Flipkart group CEO Kalyan Krishnamurthy while Nahata will follow the same structure at PhonePe with a second line of reporting to Sameer Nigam, the co-founder and CEO of the digital payments firm,” a source in the know of the mater said.
“Sriram has consistently demonstrated his expertise managing several diverse functions at Flipkart and is well poised to take on the responsibilities as Flipkart Commerce CFO. I wish both Emily and Sriram the best for their future endeavours,” said Kalyan Krishnamurthy, CEO, Flipkart Group.
Venkataraman took additional charge as COO in 2018 and was responsible for Ekart (logistics vertical), the marketplace and the retail vertical.
Walmart had bought a majority stake in the Indian e-commerce firm in 2018 for US $ 16 billion.
