Flipkart has expanded its supply chain and logistics infrastructure ahead of The Big Billion Days and the upcoming festive shopping season, adding 14 million cubic feet of warehousing space across India. The expansion has increased its storage capacity by 50 %.
Through its logistics arm Ekart, the company has also upgraded technology and automation systems, increasing peak processing capacity by more than 30% to support faster order fulfilment and deliveries during the festive period.
Ekart has added more than 900 delivery hubs across the country to strengthen its last-mile network and support same-day and next-day deliveries. Its network now comprises more than 8,200 facilities, including fulfilment centres, sortation hubs and last-mile delivery operations. Flipkart also operates nearly 1,200 Flipkart Minutes micro-fulfilment centres across more than 150 cities.
Ahead of the festive sale, Flipkart has pre-positioned more than 2.5 crore product units at Ekart fulfilment centres to support MSMEs, small businesses, artisans, weavers and marketplace sellers. It has also added 70 pick-up stations in key seller clusters to reduce fulfilment timelines and improve inventory movement.
Ekart’s third-party logistics (3PL) franchise network has expanded to 600 locations within two months of its launch. The company has also added more than 750 PIN codes to its delivery network, extending coverage to locations including Leh in Ladakh, Kargil in Jammu and Kashmir, parts of Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh, and several areas across the Northeast.
Hemant Badri, Senior Vice President and Head, Supply Chain, Flipkart Group, said the expanded network will enable the company to reach more customers during The Big Billion Days while helping sellers access a wider customer base.
The company said delivery personnel, known as Wishmasters, will have access to benefits including term life insurance, personal accident coverage, mediclaim, Doctor on Call services, festive-season bonuses and referral incentives. Flipkart has also introduced AI-enabled onboarding through its Flipkart Delivery Partners app.
The expansion comes as Flipkart strengthens its logistics, seller support and quick-commerce infrastructure ahead of the festive shopping season.
