Even if the newly formed Digital Commerce Cell or DCC has recently submitted a set of recommendations towards streamlining the e-commerce sector of Bangladesh, reports suggest it is going to take customers longer to get their payments, which are stuck with the payment gateways after e-commerce forms failed to deliver their orders despite advance payments, as the Government wants to examine legal issues first.
Media reports maintained this while adding the DCC has sought the opinion of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) and the Law Ministry in this regard.
Meanwhile, speaking to the media, Additional Secretary to the Commerce Ministry AHM Shafiquzzaman, reportedly, stated, “…we will pay the non-litigants their fund and we will start repaying the rest of the consumers after settlement of legal cases…,” even as he, reportedly, expressed hope repayment of funds to the consumers and merchants could start soon.
Shafiquzzaman, reportedly, however could not specifically state from when the central bank (Bangladesh Bank) would start making the repayments.
