Major e-commerce companies including Amazon, Meesho, Zomato, Swiggy, and Zepto have jointly launched the Digital Commerce Coalition, an industry-led initiative to address common e- commerce challenges.
According to the DCC, the coalition will focus on improving customer experience, supporting entrepreneurs and small businesses, strengthening supply chains, supporting delivery partners, and contributing to broader economic development.
It will also serve as a forum for stakeholder engagement, policy discussions, research, thought leadership, and knowledge sharing to promote responsible growth of the digital commerce sector with its secretariat being managed by the Koan Advisory Group, a New Delhi-based public policy consulting firm.
“India’s digital commerce sector is at an inflection point and the choices the industry makes will share how MSMEs (Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises) access markets, how supply chains become more resilient, and how consumer trust is protected,” said Rachit Ranjan, Chief Policy Officer at Zepto.
The initiative comes at a time when India’s digital commerce sector is expanding rapidly, amid growing regulatory scrutiny of the business practices of e-commerce and quick-commerce companies in the country.
ICICI Securities report stated that India’s e-commerce market is expected to nearly triple to US $174-214 billion by FY ’30 from around US $70 billion in FY ’25, while e-commerce penetration in overall retail is projected to rise from 7% to 13 % during the period.
