1995 marked the debut of Dsquared2’s runway show extravaganzas as Dean and Dan Caten presented their first menswear collection under the label name. The brand’s ideology follows a seamless merging of contrasts: sporty and glamorous, laidback and extravagant, masculine and feminine, creating a distinctive concept of alternative luxury.
Snap back to 2017, and not much has changed as the Catens continue to adopt the philosophy of Mix n’ Match by churning out two-in-one variations via their Resort 2018 line-up.
The denim is fused and edged with black leather while hoodies are layered over shirts sneaking out from beneath. Leather jackets and trousers in black, pink and white hues are accentuated with studs. The biggest takeaway are the leather jackets paired with utilitarian vests that pose as separates but are actually one single piece.
Drawing inspiration from Boy Scout uniforms and Marlon Brando, the details include logo patches that feature over jackets, shirts and even knits, printed silk scarves and berets that will aid the collection in becoming a fast seller owing to the street style-savvy aspect of the designs.
Major materials utilized in this collection are tweed, denim and leather in a colour palette that is dominantly neutral with a hint of military references, of grenadine reds, bubblegum pinks and mustard yellows.
