In an effort to fortify its worldwide brand strategy, Dr. Martens has named Carla Murphy as its new chief brand officer.
Murphy comes from Adidas, where she most recently oversaw the Terrex and Five Ten products as global SVP and GM for Adidas Outdoor. She will oversee the bootmaker’s global brand organisation in her new position, which includes the divisions for strategy, marketing, sustainability, and products.
She will join the company’s global executive team and report to Dr. Martens CEO Ije Nwokorie, who was formerly the CBO.
Having previously worked at Icebreaker, VF Corporation, and various Amer Sports brands, including Salomon and Arc’teryx, Murphy has more than 20 years of experience in brand growth and product leadership across lifestyle and performance footwear and clothing. She will be stationed in London and start her new position on 1st July 2025.
It’s really exciting to be a part of the team and the brand right now, and there’s a lot of enthusiasm and ambition. This next chapter offers a great chance to innovate and reach a larger audience in a way that is both culturally relevant and authentically meaningful, Murphy said.
According to Nwokorie, the company is thrilled that Carla will be joining to head the brand organisation. Carla is a remarkable leader who has demonstrated success in leveraging fearless innovation and daring storytelling to propel growth for globally recognised businesses. She will work well with the incredibly skilled creative and brand teams.
