Bangladesh e-commerce sector, which is going through a turmoil after emergence of reports pertaining to large-scale corruption and anomalies, seems all set to head for settling down for good after the Digital Commerce Cell (DCC) recently has handed over a set of recommendations to the cabinet division proposing introducing a central complaints management system, central logistic tracking platform and issue a unique business identification number so as to streamline the e-commerce sector.
Media reports maintained this even as they cited DCC Chief AHM Shafiquzzaman in this regard, according to whom the cabinet division had, reportedly, given them responsibility to prepare a set of recommendations, which they did it within the stipulated timeframe and accordingly submitted the same.
Shafiquzzaman, who is also the Additional Secretary Ministry of Commerce, further underlined DCC was working towards forging an authority and a legal framework so that it can start paying back the money of the affected e-consumers and merchants, the payments of whom are stuck with the gateways.
It may be mentioned here that after reports of large-scale corruption came to fore, the cabinet division last month formed a 15-member high-level committee on e-commerce.
