Bestseller, the Danish fashion retailer, has announced that it will be investing in 3 new sustainable start-ups.
Together with Invest FWD, the retailer has selected Nature Coatings, Circular Systems and Evrnu for their potential to change the industry and also contribute to a more circular clothing cycle.
The investments in the aforementioned sustainable start-ups are being seen as a part of Bestseller’s goal of becoming a climate positive and a ‘fair for all’ retailer.
Notably, each of the 3 sustainable start-ups focuses on sustainable innovation.
While Nature Coatings develops black pigment that’s sustainably produced from wood waste, Circular Systems include textile and food crop waste that contributes to the production of conventional yarn.
Evrnu, on the other hand, is majorly known for bioengineered fibre and regenerative cellulosic systems.
The retailer’s announcement to invest in the 3 start-ups follows its recent investment with Finland-based textile innovator Infinited Fiber Company.
This is not the first time that Bestseller has been a part of sustainable partnerships. Not long back, it collaborated with alternative leather producer Beyond Leather and The Organic Cotton Accelerator, with the objective to bring security and social and environmental development to the cotton production industry.
Founded in 1975, Bestseller originally focused only on womenswear, before also moving over to kidswear in 1986 and menswear in 1988.
