The rise in the popularity of athletic apparel for the urban adventure seeker is something so significant that seldom fashion retailers and brands ignore it. Most brands try to harness the prowess of this fame, which is exactly what Adidas plays on. The Adidas Outdoor collection caters to the sporty individuals and tremendously increases its growth in the market.
Keeping sustainability as their core strength, Adidas Outdoor hit the mark of 100 per cent growth in 2018 and the brand anticipates this number would double in the coming year. Adidas hopes to keep up its partnership with Parley for the Oceans, the sustainability firm that makes use of ocean plastic to produce apparel and footwear collection.
Adidas Outdoor recently launched a functional confluence of technical fabrics and fashion-forward looks, targeting urban travellers and athletic consumers. The three major lines for this collection are Terrex, Five Ten, and Parley lines. All of these promise stretchable, textually soft fabrics constructed to include faux fur materials, high collars, and accent treatments that do the work of elevating these lines from activewear to a to minimalist streetwear style.
This collection is set in colours that are intentionally made to match the earthy tones of the landscapes, from cargo green to ink, carbon black, and some dye-less products to provide the wearer with apparels that are edgy and transitional.
The Managing Director of Adidas Outdoor U.S., Greg Thomsen commented, “For Adidas Outdoor, Fall 2018 sees continued momentum for sustainable and environment friendly products. Adidas creators continue discovering new solutions to help innovate unique materials and construction processes that help lessen environmental impact. We’ve found rewarding success with our partnership with Parley for the Oceans, and continue to invent new ways to use ocean plastic as a raw material, and have expanded the footwear and apparel collection for Fall 2018 to include technical rainwear. Made from recycled ocean plastics, the Fall 2018 Parley 3-Layer Jacket and the Parley 2-Layer Jacket offer supreme waterproof breathable protection, keeping wearers warm and dry in the wind, rain, or snow, made primarily out of recycled plastic bottles.”
“Additionally, the notion of outdoors continues to evolve with the popularity of indoor climbing gyms and climbing as a specific fitness activity,” Thomsen said. “For Spring 2019, we will be expanding our ‘Climb the City’ collection geared toward this urban, athletic consumer,” he concluded.
