The 15-member committee, which was formed on 12 October by the Cabinet Division to protect the interests of the e-commerce consumers and merchants, would recommend to the Cabinet Division within one month on how to recover the consumers’ and merchants’ money from errant e-commerce entities.
Media reports maintained this citing the Additional Secretary of the Commerce Ministry in this direction.
Commerce Ministry’s Additional Secretary AHM Shafiquzzaman after a recent meeting of the committee stated, “…we will prepare the recommendations on how to recover the money swindled by a number of e-commerce companies…,” while adding that the recommendations will be sent to the Cabinet Division.
The Additional Secretary, who is also the chief of the 15-member committee, reportedly, added the Commerce Ministry was working on registration and licensing system for the e-commerce entities while also maintaining that it (committee) would also recommend a future plan for supervising the companies and also recommend ways to bring the transactions of all the e-commerce companies under one umbrella.
