Checkpoint Systems, Inc revealed that Aeon Retail, a major Japanese retailer, is gradually phasing out its existing Acousto-Magnetic (AM) and Electronic Article Surveillance (EAS) systems and replacing it with Checkpoint Systems, Inc’s radio frequency identification (RFID), upgradeable RF EAS systems that will not only help Aeon Retail improve its inventory management, but also enhance the shopping experience.
Checkpoint Systems, Inc is a leading global supplier of merchandise availability solutions for the retail industry.
Both Aeon Retail and Checkpoint Systems, Inc have introduced source-tagging for the apparel and consumer packaged goods merchandise. This step will ease the process of tagging and will ensure that by the time the merchandise reaches the stores, they are already tagged and shelf-ready.
Per Levin, President, Merchandise Availability Solutions, Checkpoint Systems, Inc. said, “We are excited to work with Aeon Retail on this RFID pilot, and we are committed to a successful and evolving inventory availability programme for the company.”

Checkpoint Systems Inc’s solutions implemented by Aeon Retail will help it to perk up the operational efficiencies at its store. These solutions will help improve the overall shopper experience with accurate inventory visibility, automating tasks, which allows staff to focus time on customers and their needs.
Aeon Retail is also planning to adopt Checkpoint Systems Inc.’s RFID robot prototype (Video) to automate the in-store inventory cycle-counting process. The Japanese company has been piloting Checkpoint’s RFID solution for quite some time now and plans to implement it to its latest flagship store.
Furthermore, Aeon Retail will make use of Checkpoint’s OAT Enterprise software wholly integrated into its point-of-sale and point of exit systems and also Checkpoint’s new UNO RF/RFID label. The new technology will help the Japanese Company to automatically match its inventory with merchandise sales and spot any items that had left the store. The accuracy of the information will help reduce excess inventory, reduce out-of-stocks and improve operational efficiencies.
Checkpoint’s prototype robot-enabled inventory counting, a unique solution, will also be introduced by Aeon at its flagship store. This robot will help automate the inventory cycle counting process and will do away with human-error, reduce operational costs and improve the overall output by value-addition, thus, serving the shopper better.
