
Centric Brands, a lifestyle brand collective, announced Monday that Rob Smith is the new president of its kids division, effective immediately.
In this position, Smith will oversee the company’s worldwide children’s business in all brands and categories. He has the responsibility of driving strategic expansion, deepening consumer engagement, and solidifying Centric’s leadership in the kids’ apparel market through innovation and operational excellence. He will also join Centric’s executive leadership team.
Smith will work closely with Steve Pinkow, who has spearheaded the children division since 2007. Pinkow will assume a consulting role through the remainder of 2026, allowing for a seamless transition before ending his full-time responsibilities at the end of this year.
Jason Rabin, Centric Brands CEO, to whom Smith will report to said that Rob brings a thoughtful, visionary approach to leadership and a successful track record of growing brands and developing effective teams. He added that his deep industry expertise and outside-the-box thinking will be critical to enhancing their kids’ portfolio globally. Rabin also thanked Steve for his leadership, dedication, and the strong foundation he’s established over almost two decades.
Smith has over 35 years of experience across fashion, denim, activewear, and childrenswear, and previously led men’s and women’s categories as well. Most recently, he was CEO and founder of The Phluid Project, an inclusive fashion house emphasising community and education. During his tenure, Phluid grew its retail distribution to over 10,000 stores across North America.
Smith also served as a board and executive member in prominent companies such as Steve Madden, Haddad Brands, Macy’s, and Victoria’s Secret.
Smith stated that he is thrilled to be joining Centric Brands and leading its Kids business at such an exciting time. He added that his passion has always been for creating brands that speak to contemporary consumers, and he’s eager to collaborate with Centric’s creative teams to innovate, expand their global presence, and create stronger bonds with families across the globe.
