British fashion retailer Burberry showed its commitment to sustainability with the launch of its new fabric recycling scheme.
The scheme, called ReBurberry Fabric, has been unveiled in partnership with British Fashion Council – better known as BFC.
The recycling scheme will see the fashion retailer donate leftover fabric to the students of fashion most in need across the UK. The aim is offer support to creative communities.
Corroborating further, Pam Batty, VP, Corporate Responsibility, Burberry, said offering resources sustainably to creative communities will help bring out their creativity to life.
She added that Burberry is looking forward to see how these fabric donations will impact the students and academic institutions.
Notably, the BFC will oversee the logistics of fabric donations. Through its Institute of Positive Fashion and Colleges Council, BFC will be helping in shipping fabrics to students in the UK.
Both Burberry and BFC have made it clear that their intent is to centralise the logistics for donations so that access to materials becomes easy.
Burberry intends to be a trendsetter here as it believes that the initiative will provide a template for other fashion brands to encourage young and upcoming talent.
