Recently, Burberry unveiled a fresh line of scarves and trench coats—the latter a brand-new design shown by Chief Creative Officer Daniel Lee—made in collaboration with Highgrove Gardens.
Burberry and Highgrove—more especially, the grounds that encircle King Charles and Queen Camilla’s private home—have partnered for the third time.
The collection pays tribute to the monarch’s and the foundation he founded, ‘King’s Foundation,’ which looks after Highgrove Gardens, for their “thoughtful, steadfast work.” Holly Mills, a British artist and Royal Drawing School graduate, drew the designs for the trench coat linings and scarves. Mills captured “the species-rich meadows and delphinium”, the King’s favourite flower, in his pictures, which were drawn at Highgrove Gardens at the height of summer bloom.
The four scarves are hand-rolled at the ends and made from organic silk in Italy. The brand’s facility in Castleford, Yorkshire, assembles the gabardine trench coat that is woven at its mill in Keighley. There are two colours for the Castleford’s exterior, which is made entirely of organic cotton.
“As a Royal Warrant holder and British heritage brand, Burberry shares the commitment of The King’s Foundation in supporting young British artists, whilst ensuring the legacy of craft and artistry is passed onto the next generation”, Burberry said.
