British streetwear brand Bench and its intellectual property assets have been acquired by the Gordon Brothers, the global advisory, restructuring, and investment firm.
Gordon Brothers’ brands division is known to acquire, restructure and revive some of the world’s most recognizable brands.
Bench used to retail its products in more than 20 countries in Europe and North America until very recently. From humble beginnings in 1989 in Manchester to global status, Bench has developed into a widely and highly respected lifestyle brand.
High quality men’s, women’s and kid’s streetwear products are among major products offered by the brand. It used to retail its products at more than 80 stores in Europe and North America. Additionally, it used to retail its products at more than 2,000 wholesale points of sale.
Re-establishment of the brand’s e-commerce presence in Europe will be the focus area of Gordon Brothers. However, it will continue with its long-standing partnership with Freemark Apparel Brands Group in North America.
The acquisition of Bench Brand has come after successful re-launch of the Wet Seal fast fashion retailer as a digitally native e-commerce business.
“It is exciting to acquire an authentic pioneer in the category and bring our thoroughly modern branding, marketing and business model to bear in reestablishing Bench as a streetwear powerhouse,” said Ramez Toubassy, President, brands division, Gordon Brothers.
