Asos, the fashion e-tailer from the UK, has unveiled a design guidebook for the benefit of all designers and fashion brands.
Launched together with Centre for Sustainable Fashion (CSF), the Asos Circular Design Guidebook will offer designers and brands every detail on material choices, recycling techniques and zero-waste cutting methods.
The design guidebook distinctly breaks down nine circular design strategies of Asos and describes at length their application.
The nine strategies of Asos are innovative materials, recycled materials, minimised waste, zero waste, remanufacture/upcycling, durability, versatility, mono-materiality and disassembly.
The e-tailer believes that each of the above strategies can help designers achieve the Ellen MacArthur Foundation’s vision of a circular economy for fashion, where products are made from safe and recycled or renewable inputs, are used more and are made to be made again.
More on the same, Simon Platts, Responsible Sourcing Director, Asos, said “Launching this guidebook together with CSF means we can help accelerate the transition to circular design across the entire fashion industry, critical to achieving the sustainability we all want to see.”
Asos sells over 850 brands in addition to its own range of apparels and accessories. It also ships to 196 countries from fulfilment centres in the UK, USA and Europe.
