BRAC Bank Debit, Credit and Pre-paid card transactions for 10 e-commerce companies, including Evaly, Alesha Mart and BoomBoom Shopping, have been cancelled by the concerned with immediate effect recently.
According to reports, the bank maintained the same in a web link provided through SMS to the customers even as the move comes in the backdrop of rising number of allegations from online customers who alleged not getting the products on time even if in many cases the payments had, reportedly, been made months in advance through mobile financial services (MFS) or cards.
Addressing the media, Managing Director of BRAC Bank Selim RF Hussain, reportedly, stated that it was strategic decision (to cancel card transactions with 10 e-commerce platforms) and the decision initially will be implemented for the time being even if it did not rule out continuing the same for a substantial period of time, depending on the situation.
