Ever since Leicester’s labour rights scandal in June 2020, Boohoo Group has been struggling to improve on its tarnished image.
Last month, Leicester MP Liz Kendall had called some of Boohoo’s biggest shareholders like Invesco and Jupiter to dismiss the top management at Boohoo that included its founder Mahmud Kamani and Chief Executive John Lyttle.

And now again it’s happened! Yesterday (19 November), Liz Kendall yet again raised the issue in Parliament and said that Boohoo’s supply chain malpractices in Leicester is one of the worst environmental, social and corporate governance scandals in the history of modern UK.
He again called for the removal of Mahmud Kamani and John Lyttle.
Meanwhile, Boohoo Group has hit back at Liz Kendall over the MP’s statement of not having received their supplier COVID plan and that too despite the Group being in regular contact with Kendall and her office.
The Group said, in a statement, “We were surprised to hear Kendall state in Parliament that she hasn’t received our supplier COVID plan, which her office had received earlier this week. In the interests of clarity, we have requested Kendall to correct her statement.”
Back in September 2020, an independent review was done by Alison Levitt, which found that Boohoo Group had been ‘inadequate for many years’ in monitoring its Leicester supply chain.
The review had brought out the issues of poor working conditions, insufficient pay and violation of employee rights, which had become the most talking point for everyone.
We will keep you posted for more on this!
