Shopping centres, fashion houses, and fashion retail outlets in Dhaka were elated during the start of Durga Puja, the largest annual festival for the Hindu community, as sales surpassed expectations.
This is as per reports, which underlined traders attributed this increase to the fact that people were unable to travel to Kolkata for shopping purposes due to visa issues this season.
Traditionally, during festive seasons like Durga Puja, fashion brands, apparel retailers along with consumer electronics retailers introduce new collections and offer various discounts to attract customers and this time around it wasn’t any different.
According to Khalid Mahmood Khan, one of the co-founders of the fashion retailer Kay Kraft, there has been an increase in the number of shoppers this season compared to the previous one.
Despite high inflation, Khan stated that they were quite satisfied with the sales, as they were better than last year.
They offered discounts on several products, which received a positive response from buyers.
Soumik Das, the manager of Rang Bangladesh, a fashion house, shared the same view and mentioned that sales were good compared to the previous season.
Das expects sales to grow by over 10 percent this year in comparison to last year even as he attributed the increase in sales to the fact that many people were unable to shop in Kolkata due to visa issues.
