Authentic Brands Group (ABG), a New York-based brand management company, has appointed former Amazon executive Tim Derner to be Global Head of Marketplaces, a significant and intentional addition that further demonstrates Authentic’s commitment to accelerating marketplace growth and enhancing their global digital footprint.
Tim brings over a decade of experience from Amazon where he most recently was Director of Fashion and Luxury Stores, helping scale Amazon Fashion into the largest fashion retailer in the world. During his time there, Tim also worked with ABG to help grow online reach for leading portfolio brands like Reebok, Aéropostale, Eddie Bauer and Brooks Brothers.
In his new role as Global Head of Marketplaces, Derner will lead the evolution of Authentic’s marketplace distribution strategy, with goals to deepen partnerships on platforms, promote brands internationally, and unlock incremental value across global e-commerce channels. Derner will report to president Matt Maddox and he will work closely with key digital stakeholders like Adam Kronengold and Jarrod Weber.
“Marketplaces are a vital engine of long-term brand growth,” said Maddox. “Tim’s successful history of scaling digital marketplaces across the globe makes him the perfect fit to elevate our omnichannel approach.”
Derner commented on his excitement about his new role at Authentic, saying, “We are only beginning to scratch the surface on what is possible when great brands are optimized for discovery and conversion at scale.”
Derner’s appointment with Authentic underscores not only its commitment to leading-edge digital innovation but also its larger ambition of turning iconic heritage brands into global marketplace leaders.
