This year, the athleisure company Tala is scheduled to open its first physical location on London’s Carnaby Street. The company was started in 2019 by former fitness influencer Grace Beverley, and this spring it will launch its first store. The 2,000 square foot, two-story store with two fronts at 3-4 Carnaby Street will have omnichannel and mobile checkout features.
Beverley shared the news, saying it’s like finally having a community clubhouse where people can talk about how much time is spent in design meetings arguing over seams and gussets, where you can actually feel the difference in quality between a fast fashion dupe and a TALA black legging, where there can be amazing events, and where you can get closer to the community than ever before.
Tala, which has been growing over the past few years, entered the actual retail market for the first time last year when it partnered with Selfridges on a concession. The brand’s best-selling lines, such as DayFlex, Sculpt Seamless, Signature Sweats, and 365 Sculpting Lounge, were available in the shop-in-shops. To help guide its images and tone of voice, Tala appointed former Boden and Net-a-Porter executive Jon Wetherell as its new creative director at the beginning of the year.
