The data released by National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) of China says apparel retail sales of the country are dwindling on monthly basis.
According to Apparel Resources’ analysis of NBS data, China clocked RMB 94.50 billion (US $ 14.53 billion) from its domestic apparel retail sales in July ’21, noting 19.23 per cent monthly decline from June ’21.
However, the sales were 7.50 per cent up in July this year as compared to July ’20.
Cumulatively, in January-July ’21 period, China has noted around 30 per cent Y-o-Y increase in apparel retail sales to accommodate RMB 767.30 billion (US $ 118.23 billion) revenues.
As far as online sales of apparels are concerned, China clocked 21.60 per cent Y-o-Y growth in January-July ’21 period.
According to NBS data, the share of apparel sales in the total retail revenues earned in the first 7-month period of 2021 was 3.11 per cent. The total revenues from retail sales in consumer goods categories earned by China during the period were RMB 3.80 trillion.
