
American Apparel Inc., US-based apparel retailer, manufacturer and distributor in collaboration with the West African artisans has produced a limited edition of tie-dye T-shirt collection. The collaboration took shape when Massah KaiKai, a young, New York-based artist, pitched an idea to American Apparel Inc.
KaiKai sought to capture a more expressive and vivid portrayal of her homeland, Sierra Leone through a creative partnership with the Company for which several artisans from Sierra Leone were hired. The collection is marked by an array of vivid designs from tie-dye method and the T-shirts are fashioned in such a way that every piece looks unique.

Beginning December 15, the limited edition of T-shirt, dyed by Sierra Leone’s artisans is available on the American Apparel’s global online store and physical stores for purchase. The apparel retailer has also planned to donate 50% of the sales proceed from this collection to the artisans who dedicated their time and talent to design the vivid collection.
