American online giant Amazon saw its workers at its Alabama warehouse vote against forming union late last week.
The workers, reportedly, cast 1,798 votes against forming a union, while 738 voted in favour of forming union.
The voting was seen with lot of enthusiasm all across the US as it would have marked the formation of first workers’ union in the US in Amazon’s history.
Meanwhile tension continue to build up between Amazon and Retail, Wholesale and Department Store Union (RWDSU) – which workers were voting to join – as both parties accused each other of foul play.
Reportedly, RWDSU is planning to file charges against Amazon for reported illegal actions during the vote.
This was, as per media reports, confirmed by Stuart Applebaum, President, RWDSU.
Talking of illegal actions, RWDSU has been accusing Amazon of forcing its workers to attend anti-union meetings and then pelting them with anti-union propaganda all through voting.
Amazon has, however, refuted all the allegations.
US President Joe Biden too has reportedly made its stand clear in a video posted on Twitter wherein he said that the choice to “join a union is up to the workers, full stop.”
