Amazon has unveiled a new low-price shopping experience segment, Amazon Haul, in direct response to increasing competition from Chinese marketplaces like Temu and growing consumer demand for value-oriented products.
This new segment is currently in its trial phase and has been introduced to a limited section of consumers in the United States who have the updated version of the app. The new segment offers free shipping on orders over US $ 25 and takes a typical shipping times of one to two weeks.
The product prices on the haul section ranges from as low as under US $ 10 to US $ 20 and features products across categories including fashion, home and lifestyle, among others. The app called the price range for the products “crazy low” and also stated that there would be free returns on purchases above US $ 3 and within the time frame of 15 days.
The apparel market space was highly dominated by the Chinese apps Temu and Shein due to their contrasting low prices. With Amazon’s new low-price shopping segment, the e-commerce brand offers a safer and more authentic alternative to the Chinese apps. The US-based e-commerce application also said that they would meet quality standards even with low pricing.
“We continue to look for methods to collaborate with our selling partners so they can provide products at extremely cheap rates because we know that customers value finding excellent products at extremely low prices,” stated Dharmesh Mehta, vice president of worldwide selling partner services at Amazon.
Additionally, he stated that this experience is still in its infancy and that the company will keep listening to its customers in order to improve and grow.
