India’s quick-commerce sector is rapidly expanding its footprint across the country, with leading players expanding their presence beyond major metropolitan markets. Blinkit currently has the widest reach, operating in more than 200 cities across India, followed by Flipkart Minutes, which is available in over 130 cities. Swiggy Instamart has expanded to more than 100 cities, while Zepto is present in 92 cities nationwide.
Amazon Now, which currently serves more than 50 million customers across over 15 cities including Bengaluru, Delhi-NCR, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Pune, Kochi and Amritsar, has announced plans to scale Amazon Now, its ultra-fast delivery service, to more than 300 cities across the country as it seeks to build India’s largest ‘delivery in minutes’ network.
The move highlights the intensifying competition in India’s quick-commerce market, estimated to be worth around US $11 billion.
Amazon also plans to invest US $48 billion in India by 2030, including an additional US $13 billion for expanding its AI and cloud infrastructure, following a meeting between CEO Andy Jassy and Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Alongside expanding city coverage, companies are also investing heavily in fulfillment infrastructure. Blinkit operates more than 2,243 dark stores nationwide and has outlined plans to expand this network to 3,000 dark stores by March 2027. Swiggy Instamart and Zepto have each crossed the 1,100-store mark, with 1,143 and 1,139 dark stores respectively, and continue to expand their infrastructure and city presence across India.
Flipkart Minutes has built a network of more than 1,000 fulfilment centres across over 130 cities and aims to increase this to 1,500 fulfilment centres while expanding its footprint to more than 180 cities by the end of 2026
