Further boosting its storage capacity in India, e-commerce major Amazon India on Wednesday announced the launch of a new fulfillment centre in West Bengal.
Boasting of a storage capacity of 1.2 million cubic feet, it is the largest in the state!
The company has also tripled the storage capacity of an existing specialised fulfillment centre for large appliances and furniture to more than 6 lakh cubic feet.
With this remarkable expansion, Amazon India’s infrastructure in West Bengal will now offer a storage capacity of more than 3.4 million cubic feet across five fulfillment centres.
Sharing his thoughts on the new centre, Akhil Saxena, Vice President – Customer Fulfillment Operations, Amazon India, said “West Bengal, because of its strategic location, enables us to serve customers in the region and the neighbouring North-Eastern States. Infrastructure expansion is a key step in furthering our vision to make e-commerce a part of everyday life, especially during the festivities.”
The fulfillment centre in West Bengal is part of the e-tailer’s plans announced in July this year to add 10 fulfillment centres and expand seven existing sites across the country.
