Amazon India has strengthened its infrastructure with the launch of its largest sortation centre in the state of Gujarat.
The 1.25 lakh sq. ft. centre is located at the Bavla industrial area in Ahmedabad to sort and connect customer packages to the delivery stations of Ahmedabad and other cities of the state.
With this new centre, Amazon India now has three sortation centres with an area spanning 1.35 lakh sq. ft.
The e-commerce giant will support more than 1.5 lakh sellers in the state with this expansion to reach a larger customer base and offer faster deliveries during the upcoming festive season.
“We are expanding our infrastructure across the state, and this expansion will create new job opportunities. The expansion is in line with our commitment to deliver packages faster, reliably and safely ahead of the upcoming festive season,” said Abhinav Singh, Director customer fulfilment and transportation services at Amazon India.
Currently, Amazon India has close to 100 self-operated and partner delivery stations that ensure direct delivery that cater to close to 700 pin codes across the Gujarat region.
