The much-anticipated MO.ONSHOT, the first net zero carbon shoe in the world, was today launched by sustainable footwear and clothing company Allbirds at the Global Fashion Summit in Copenhagen.
The high-top sneaker uses carbon-negative, regenerative wool and boasts a ground-breaking carbon footprint of net 0.0 kg CO2e. Tim Brown, co-founder of Allbirds and its chief innovation officer, asked audience members who were business rivals to develop their own versions while speaking on stage in Copenhagen.
In order to assist them in doing this, Allbirds is making the M0.0NSHOT technique available for use by anybody via its ‘Recipe B0.0K,’ a toolkit that outlines each phase of the approach’s workflow, including materials, production, transportation, end-of-life, and carbon footprint calculation.
The toolkit, which was given out to the thousands of Global Fashion Summit attendees, is now downloadable for free on the Allbirds website.
Brown said, “This is one small step for Allbirds – but it could be one giant leap for the footwear industry, if others join us. Unlike the space ‘race’, this is a relay – we’re all on the same side.”
