AG, a Los Angeles-based brand, has unveiled its third ‘Jeans of Tomorrow’ collection, demonstrating its commitment to sustainability and recycling. The collection’s unique colours are derived from recycled jeans and post-consumer fibres, embracing a circular approach to fashion.
The core fabrics of the collection include ‘Unify,’ a soft taupe twill made with recycled cotton and featuring colourful slubs from post-consumer textiles. The other fabric is ‘Revive,’ a twill indigo made with 60 per cent recycled denim and 40 per cent virgin cotton, resulting in a light shade of blue with subtle speckled characteristics. Notably, no new dyes were added to the fabrics, reducing water and chemical usage compared to traditional denim production.
AG collaborated with the Guatemalan denim mill, The New Denim Project, known for its expertise in recycling materials in an efficient and environmentally conscious manner.
Ron Balatbat revealed that the next capsule collection will be composed of 95 per cent recycled materials, with a significant portion coming from AG jeans.
The brand emphasises that this approach prolongs the life cycle of garments, keeping them out of landfills and giving them new forms through recycling and upcycling. Notably, AG first introduced the ‘Jeans of Tomorrow’ concept in Summer 2021, featuring biodegradable jeans and jackets.
