Results for Q1 2023 were released at the most recent earnings call for German sportswear company Adidas. Adidas continues to put the burden for its problems, including its $448 million USD loss in the first quarter of this year, on YEEZY, according to company reports.
The sportswear company is shifting to other ambassadorships and investments since it can no longer rely on the Adidas YEEZY line as a reliable source of profits. Jerry Lorenzo’s impending Fear of God Athletics collection with Adidas appears to be the company’s biggest bet. The formal release date for the collection was announced by chief executive Bjrn Gulden after his first Fear of God runway show, which was held at the Hollywood Bowl in April.
The clothing line that Lorenzo carries includes streetwear, sneakers, and basketball shoes. Several Adidas athlete ambassadors who play in the NBA are expected to wear pieces from the collection. Gulden has so far stated that the line has gotten positive feedback from retail partners and might “commercially be a game-changer for Adidas by 2024.”
Despite the fact that Gulden stated that “Q1 ended a little better than we had expected with flattish sales and a small operating profit of € 60 million,” the business is still suffering because of the YEEZY relationship fallout.
Fans will have to wait until the second half of 2023 for the release of Fear of God Athletics and Adidas collaboration.
