Leaders of the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) have called on the Government to expedite service delivery by further simplifying policies governing import and export trade. This appeal was made during a meeting between BGMEA representatives and Commissioner of Customs House, Chittagong, Mohammad Zakir Hossain, held in the port city.
The delegation, led by BGMEA support committee member MD M Mohiuddin Chowdhury, included former directors AM Mahbub Chowdhury, Anjan Sekhor Das, Saif Ullah Mansur, and senior officials from the Chittagong Customs House.
During the meeting, Commissioner Hossain emphasised the critical role of the ready-made garment (RMG) industry in driving economic growth and generating employment in the country. He assured BGMEA leaders of his full support in facilitating the swift offloading of imported goods related to the RMG sector, as well as in simplifying export procedures. Hossain also committed to addressing existing challenges in import and export operations through collaborative discussions and cooperation.
The BGMEA’s call for enhanced service delivery underscores the industry’s ongoing efforts to streamline trade processes essential for maintaining its competitiveness in the global market.
